Posted 3:02 PM by Jack Thursday, March 02, 2006From Tug Sutton, County EMA DirectorGovernor Daniels has proclaimed the week of March 5-11 as Severe Weather reparedness Week. In conjunction with this proclamation, and in cooperation with the National Weather Service, IDHS, Indiana Department of Education, and the Indiana State Police, March 8, 2006 has been selected as the date for the Statewide Tornado Exercise. Should severe weather be a threat on March 8, the test will be held on March 9. The County Commissioners have also proclaimed March 5-11 as Severe Weather Preparedness Week in Johnson County. There will be 2 drills initiated this year by the NWS. The first will be initiated sometime between 10:00 AM and 10:30 AM, primarily for the benefit of school participation, and the majority of the work force, who are located at their place of employment at that time. The second initiation will occur between 7:00 PM and 7:30 PM, and will allow families the opportunity to practice their own personal plans within their home. Both drills will be initiated by a "Test-Tornado Warning" announcement. However, there will also be a "Test-Tornado Watch" issued in advance of the "Test-Tornado Warning" announcement. DO NOT INITIATE THE DRILL UNTIL THE TEST-TORNADO WARNING IS ISSUED. Thanks Posted 3:19 AM by Matt |
