SKYWARN severe weather net report, Friday, April 14.

The net began at 9:08 PM in stand-by mode and at 10:01 the National Weather Service directed that Johnson County's net go active. The net was secured with NWS permission at 11:10 PM for a total up-time of slightly more than two hours.

During the net a major storm cell passed through Johnson County. Participating weather spotters submitted a half-dozen real-time reports of hail of half-inch or larger diameter; one report was of inch-and-a-half hail. A sixty-mile wind gust report was also submitted. Although this storm cell produced significant property damage and funnel clouds at various locations along its path, no damage nor reportable events other than large hail and heavy wind were reported by the net within Jonnson County.

Net participants: KB9SKI (net control); KC9EBL (liaison with Central Indiana Skywarn); KC9EKR; N9LC; N9SIU; W9HY; AA9YP; K9TEA; KB9LOT; KB9KBJ; WD9DVM; WD9GMM; W8ISH; KC9ICJ; N9IS; W9TAR; NN4W; KB9BBN; KB9SRA. Of these 19 participants, 2 reported from mobile stations, and 17 from base stations. Several base station participants also had mobile capability, but this was not used, as NWS did not request any stormchasing for visual input.

---
As always, folks--thanks a lot. When I hear the 146.97 repeater telling everyone in central Indiana to hold all non-priority traffic so they can keep on top of the cell currently in our county--this tells me just how much they need and value our timely, accurate input. Feel good. Be proud. And, always, next time do better.
