The Mid-State Amateur Radio Club

Franklin, Indiana

“Serving Central Indiana Communities for Twenty-Six Years”

Club Radio Room

The Mid-State Amateur Radio Club, in cooperation with the Johnson County Emergency Management Agency, maintain a radio room in the basement of the Johnson County Law Enforcement Facility in Franklin, Indiana. The radio room, located feet from the county emergency management office, is in an ideal location to serve the EOC and the citizens of Johnson County, in the event of an emergency. The Johnson County Law Enforcement Facility is in a weather resistant building, with redundant power, water, and communications capability.

Photos of our radio setup are below, courtesy of Jack Parker, W8ISH. Click on each image for a much larger, more detailed image.

Overall setup, looking southeast. This is a two-operator setup, allowing both hams access to all radio equipment. Headphones can be used in the event of noise congestion.

Overall setup, looking northeast. Again, note the two person setup.

Op Position 1, which includes HF, 2 meter, and a dual band radio with integral digipeter.

Op Position 2, which also includes an HF radio, as well as a monoband 2 meter rig. Op2 also includes an 800 MHz radio on the SAFE-T system, for communications with fire, law enforcement, and EMS units in the field.
